A wonderfully tactile and characterful handwoven wool rug in the Gabbeh manner, featuring a soft ivory ground scattered with small geometric motifs in muted terracotta, indigo blue, chocolate brown and warm sand tones.

The richly textured border, woven in an intricate flecked palette of blue, rust, cream and brown, provides a beautiful contrast to the minimalist central field and gives the piece a distinctly artisanal quality. The wool has a lovely soft handle and natural variation throughout, adding depth and warmth.

Its restrained design and earthy palette make it exceptionally versatile — equally suited to contemporary, Scandinavian, rustic or traditional interiors. Ideal as a bedroom rug, occasional rug, study rug or layered textile piece.

Likely late 20th century and handwoven in the Persian/Gabbeh tradition.

Condition report:

Good vintage condition overall with age-related wear consistent with use. There are some areas of light tonal variation and faint marking to the ivory field, visible in the photographs, together with natural irregularities to the pile and weave typical of handwoven wool rugs. The rug remains structurally sound and presents very well overall, with a wonderfully soft, lived-in character
