Victorian Ivory-Handled Walking Stick with Carved Animal Head

England, circa 1870–1900

A rare and finely carved Victorian walking stick featuring a sculptural ivory animal head handle, most likely a hound. The carving is of high quality, with strong modelling and inset glass eyes, and displays a rich, natural patina consistent with age.

The ivory handle is mounted on a well-balanced hardwood shaft and finished with its original brass ferrule. Elegant, tactile, and full of character, this is a piece that sits comfortably within a serious collection, while also functioning as a striking decorative object.

Walking sticks of this quality, subject matter, and condition are increasingly scarce, particularly examples accompanied by appropriate documentation.

This piece is supplied with a certificate confirming the ivory to be pre-1947, allowing for legal sale under current UK ivory regulations.
