A beautifully proportioned Regency period mahogany bow front chest of drawers dating from the early 19th century, retaining exceptional colour, elegant lines and fine original craftsmanship throughout.

The chest is veneered in richly figured flame mahogany with particularly attractive movement across the bowed drawer fronts, framed with delicate boxwood stringing that gives the piece a refined architectural quality. The softly curved façade is especially elegant and beautifully balanced, while reeded corner columns and shaped bracket feet add further classical Regency detailing.

The chest comprises three generous graduating drawers fitted with decorative brass ring handles and working locks. The drawers retain their original oak linings with hand-cut dovetail joints throughout, a lovely indication of genuine Georgian craftsmanship and period construction.

Recently sympathetically restored, the chest now presents wonderfully well, with a warm polished finish that enhances the depth and richness of the mahogany whilst preserving the character expected of a genuine Regency piece. The top retains some historic age-related markings and gentle wear consistent with over two centuries of use, adding to its authenticity and mellow patina.

A timeless and highly decorative antique chest, equally suited to a bedroom, hallway or sitting room and particularly versatile in both traditional and contemporary interiors.
