An early C19th English primitive oak salt box, raised on four shaped legs and retaining its original hinged lid. This wonderfully characterful piece has developed a rich, time-worn patina, with visible tool marks and surface wear from generations of practical use.
Originally made for storing salt, it works beautifully today as a small stool, side table or decorative storage box. The lid opens smoothly to reveal a generous interior. The original hook is no longer present, which is entirely typical for pieces of this age and type.
Structurally sound and full of authentic country charm, it is a sculptural and versatile example of English vernacular furniture, ideal for kitchens, boot rooms or layered interiors.
