A decorative pair of vintage Chinese paintings on silk, beautifully depicting birds amongst flowering peonies and blossom.
Executed in the traditional Chinese bird-and-flower style, each composition is finely painted in soft greens, ivory, coral and muted pinks against a warm neutral ground. Both works incorporate vertical calligraphic inscriptions and red seal marks.
Presented as a complementary pair in simple dark-stained wooden frames with pale silk-effect mounts. The reverse retains a label for Villa Frame Makers, Hargrave Place, London N7.
A particularly attractive pair with lovely scale and colouring, ideal hung together either side of a fireplace, console or large piece of furniture.
