A delightful pair of vintage cast stone Smurf-style garden figures, inspired by the much-loved characters Papa Smurf and Jokey Smurf. Produced by the British garden ornament makers Gongolo and Dotto during the 1960s–1970s, these charming figures retain their moulded maker’s marks to the bases and have acquired a beautifully weathered patina through decades of outdoor display.
One figure depicts the wise and kindly Papa Smurf, while the other is inspired by the mischievous Jokey Smurf, shown carrying his trademark wrapped gift. Their expressive faces, vibrant remnants of original hand-painted decoration and cheerful poses capture the nostalgic charm of vintage garden ornaments from the period.
Cast in reconstituted stone, they were designed for outdoor use and have developed an attractive natural patina, with areas of paint loss, lichen growth and weathering that enhance their authentic vintage character. Although made by different manufacturers, they have been paired together for many years and complement one another beautifully.

Condition:
Good vintage condition with honest outdoor wear throughout. There is age-related paint loss, surface weathering, lichen growth and minor chips consistent with many years of garden use. The moulded Gongolo and Dotto maker’s marks remain visible to the bases. These signs of age only add to their charm and authenticity.
