A striking and unusual pair of signed Italian ceramic table lamps, each hand-painted with atmospheric architectural scenes and marked “Made in Italy” to the underside.
Of elegant elongated form, the ceramic bodies have a wonderfully textured surface and are individually decorated in contrasting yet complementary palettes. One depicts a colourful Mediterranean townscape in warm ochre, turquoise, burgundy and soft blue tones, while its companion is decorated with an atmospheric architectural scene in deep green, grey and off-white.
Each lamp is signed by the artist, with further handwritten Made in Italy markings to the underside.
The lamps retain their brass fittings and metal shade carriers and are accompanied by the large fabric shades shown. Their sculptural forms and expressive painterly decoration make them a particularly distinctive pair, combining Italian craftsmanship with a strong mid-century decorative aesthetic.
The lamps have not been rewired but have been PAT tested.
