A charming pair of late C19th–early C20th hand-coloured lithographic silhouettes depicting French Napoleonic officers in full dress uniform. Each figure is shown in crisp profile and richly detailed with gilt epaulettes, braid, buttons and sword hilt, a decorative revival of the earlier Georgian silhouette tradition, but executed here with Victorian/Edwardian colour and finesse.
 
Produced circa 1890–1910 and inspired by classic French military costume engravings, the pair have wonderful period character. They are presented in gilt frames with oval mounts, which show light, age-appropriate rubbing and minor marks, while the prints themselves are in very good condition. They display beautifully side by side and offer a distinctive historic accent.
