A wonderfully decorative pair of early 20th-century copper exterior post lanterns, retaining a beautiful naturally aged surface and strong Arts & Crafts influence.
Each lantern is constructed with a tapered four-sided glazed body beneath a distinctive pyramidal copper roof, the corners terminating in unusual hand-worked pointed finials. The cylindrical copper chimney above and black post-mounting collar below complete the architectural design.
The copper has developed a particularly attractive rich reddish-brown patina with areas of natural oxidation and verdigris, giving the pair enormous character. We have deliberately left this surface untouched.
Both lanterns retain their internal electrical lamp fittings and are designed to mount onto posts or pillars. The electrical components are untested and we recommend that they are inspected and, if necessary, rewired by a qualified electrician prior to installation.
A striking and increasingly difficult-to-find matched pair, ideal for either side of an entrance, gateway or garden terrace.

Condition:
Good antique condition with wear, oxidation, surface marks and verdigris commensurate with age and previous exterior use. The glazing shows expected age-related wear. 
Both lanterns retain their internal electrical fittings and are earthed. The fittings are currently untested, and we recommend inspection by a qualified electrician prior to installation.
