A particularly elegant pair of Arts & Crafts oak tub armchairs, of gently curved horseshoe form with shaped arms and raised on tapering, faceted legs.

Each chair retains its original commemorative brass plaque reading:

“Presented by Clarence Bowling Club, August 1931”

providing clear dating and a charming sense of provenance, likely originally made for club or institutional use.

The chairs have been recently and professionally upholstered by R D Goodchild in Octavia Dickinson ‘Oscar’ (OSC-01) – a beautifully woven British textile inspired by traditional Turkish Kilim designs, retailing at £214 per metre. The fabric brings a subtle geometric richness and depth of colour, complementing the warm tone of the oak frames.

The design reflects the restrained, honest craftsmanship associated with the Arts & Crafts movement, with clean lines and a focus on form and proportion.

A stylish, comfortable and versatile pair, ideal as occasional chairs, bedroom seating or at a desk.
