A beautifully matched pair of early 20th century British pastoral oil paintings, both signed F. Walters.
Dating to circa 1900–1925, these atmospheric countryside scenes are presented in substantial gilt moulded frames and make a striking decorative statement.

Each painting captures an idyllic English rural setting in the late Victorian revival tradition — one depicting a riverside path leading towards a distant village church spire, the other centred around a charming thatched cottage with sheep and shepherdess beside a tranquil pond.

The soft skies, naturalistic tones and balanced compositions create a harmonious pairing full of warmth and symmetry. Together they offer strong architectural presence and are ideal hung either side of a chimney breast, above a large sofa, in a dining room or hallway.

Executed in the enduring pastoral style popular in Britain at the turn of the 20th century, the paintings combine period character with excellent decorative appeal.

A timeless country house pairing.
