    Artist mainly in oil and watercolour, born in Hungerton, Lincolnshire, full title Sir Francis Le Marchant, Bart. There was an artistic tradition in most branches of his family, notably Fanny Le Marchant, the bird painter. He studied at Byam Shaw School of Drawing and Painting, 1959–62, then Royal Academy Schools, 1962–6. Teachers included Charles Mahoney, Peter Greenham, Bernard Dunstan, Edward Bawden and Anthony Eyton. Landscape and architecture were two key themes in his paintings, traditional and realistic in approach. Group shows included RA Summer Exhibitions, Upper Grosvenor Galleries, Leicester Galleries and Oscar and Peter Johnson.
