A striking mid-century cast bronze ram’s head wall pocket, dating from around 1950–1975. Beautifully modelled with deeply curled horns, finely chased fleece and expressive naturalistic features, this unusual sculptural piece combines decorative appeal with practical use as a wall-mounted vase or wall pocket.

The rich chocolate-brown patina has developed naturally over time, with subtle verdigris highlights in the recesses that enhance the character of the bronze. The horns are separately cast and expertly integrated into the design, demonstrating a quality of craftsmanship above that found in typical decorative castings.

Likely of French or Italian origin, this impressive piece is unsigned but displays excellent modelling and a well-executed cast bronze construction. It would make a wonderful statement in a traditional, country house or contemporary interior, whether displayed alone or with seasonal foliage.

A rare and distinctive decorative object for collectors of animalier sculpture, bronze work and unique interior pieces.

Condition:

Very good vintage condition with an attractive aged patina, minor surface wear and natural verdigris consistent with age. No cracks or repairs noted.
