A wonderfully characterful late Victorian mahogany desk chair, dating from approximately 1890.
The chair has an elegant curved form, with a spindled gallery centred by a fluted architectural splat. Its broad padded arms sweep around to meet the shaped upholstered back, above a generously proportioned circular seat.
Raised on four beautifully shaped cabriole legs with scroll feet, the chair retains its wonderful original iron revolving mechanism beneath, which is in full working order.
The chair has been restored and is upholstered in beautifully aged petrol-blue leather, finished with traditional stud detailing. A highly individual and comfortable piece that would make a fabulous desk, library or occasional chair.
Condition: Restored and in good working condition. The leather is in good condition, with light age-related creasing and wear that add to its character. The wooden frame displays minor marks and surface wear consistent with age. The original revolving mechanism works correctly.
