A rare and highly decorative English cast iron garden or pub table by Gaskell & Chambers Ltd., Blackfriars Road, London, dating to circa 1900–1920.

The elaborate cast iron tripod base is decorated with three characterful figural supports surrounded by pierced scrolling foliage and ornamental motifs. The legs terminate in substantial paw feet and are joined by a particularly attractive pierced lower tier featuring heart and stylised foliate decoration.

The cast iron retains an old white-painted finish, now beautifully weathered with areas of surface rust, wear and losses to the paint, giving the table a wonderfully authentic timeworn appearance.

The circular wooden top has a central aperture and is heavily weathered, with surface wear and age-related splitting. Its rustic patina complements the aged cast iron base beautifully.

A striking and unusual piece of English garden furniture with a known maker, equally suited to a garden, terrace, conservatory or interior.
