A beautifully proportioned late Georgian mahogany bedside cabinet dating from the early nineteenth century, raised on elegant tapering legs terminating in spade feet. The cabinet is surmounted by a finely figured solid mahogany tray top with a three-quarter gallery, offering both practicality and understated elegance.
The single panelled cupboard door retains its original brass ring handle and opens to reveal a spacious interior with original oak secondary timbers, a feature associated with quality English cabinet making of the Georgian period.
Wonderfully versatile, this piece works equally well as a bedside cabinet, lamp table or occasional side table. Its restrained design allows it to complement both traditional and contemporary interiors, while the rich colour and mellow patina reflect over two centuries of careful use.
Condition:
Good antique condition with age-related wear consistent with over 200 years of use. There are light surface marks and scratches to the top, historic wear to the interior, and a small stable shrinkage separation to one side panel, all commensurate with age. The cabinet is structurally sound and presents beautifully.
