A characterful pine storage chest dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, circa 1900.

The chest has a gently domed lid and is decorated with blackened iron corner straps, studwork and ornate carrying handles. The warm honey-coloured pine and naturally aged ironwork give the piece a wonderfully rustic appearance.

The interior has been lined at a later date with patterned paper, while the underside of the lid features a colourful decoupage collage depicting birds, butterflies, botanicals and historical imagery.

A charming and useful antique piece, ideal for storing blankets, keepsakes or smaller household items.

Condition

Good antique condition with age-related marks, scratches and knocks throughout. There are some splits and movement to the pine, particularly across the lid, together with wear and oxidation to the ironwork. The later paper lining shows some wear and marking. A key is present and lock works
