A particularly elegant late 19th century mahogany occasional table, attributed to Gillows of Lancaster.
The rectangular mahogany top is framed by a beautifully carved foliate and floral border, raised on four slender turned supports united by a low stretcher and terminating in shaped splayed feet.
The underside bears an impressed “GL” mark, a mark recorded on other pieces attributed to Gillows of Lancaster. Combined with the quality of the timber, construction and refined proportions, this supports the attribution.
A very decorative and versatile table, ideal as a side table, lamp table, drinks table or occasional table.

Condition:
Good antique condition, structurally sound, with age-related surface wear, minor knocks and rubbing to the carved border and feet consistent with age and use. The mahogany has a rich warm colour and attractive patina.
