Late 18th Century Welsh Oak Potboard Dresser Base
A wonderfully characterful late 18th century Country oak potboard dresser base retaining a rich timeworn surface and superb primitive country house character throughout.
Raised on square chamfered legs united by a full-width potboard shelf, the piece features three frieze drawers fitted with attractive brass swan-neck handles above a beautifully simple scalloped apron and distinctive shaped divider supports. The slim proportions and long, elegant form give the piece a particularly versatile presence, ideal for use as a console table, serving table, kitchen dresser base or hallway piece.
The top is formed from wide solid oak planks with excellent colour and patination, displaying the honest wear, movement and shrinkage expected from a piece of this age. Pegged construction, hand-worked timbers and visible joinery throughout all add to its authenticity and charm.
A highly decorative and practical country antique with excellent depth of colour and a beautifully untouched feel.
