Large Royal Copenhagen Porcelain “Two Barn Owls” Figure (Model 283)

A superb large Royal Copenhagen porcelain sculpture depicting a pair of barn owls perched closely together on a naturalistic root base. Model 283, produced in Denmark circa 1935–1950, carries the classic green Royal Copenhagen stamp, hand-painted blue waves and model number to the underside.

Beautifully rendered in soft greys, ochres and warm feathered browns, the piece captures the gentle, watchful character of the owls with exquisite detail — particularly around the finely painted faces and wing markings. This is one of Royal Copenhagen’s larger and more sculptural wildlife models, highly decorative and increasingly hard to find.
