A magnificent late 19th century carved oak hall stand of substantial proportions, richly decorated throughout with Green Man inspired carvings, scrolling foliate detail and architectural Renaissance Revival ornament.

The impressive pediment is centred by a dramatic carved mask crest, framed by sweeping acanthus leaves and scrolling decoration, giving the piece a wonderfully theatrical presence. Below sits the original mirror plate, surrounded by deeply carved panels incorporating fan motifs, foliate carving and geometric detailing.

The stand retains multiple turned coat and hat hooks, together with a shaped central shelf above an elaborately carved glove or letter compartment featuring another striking mask motif. The lower section incorporates a practical umbrella and stick stand with original metal drip trays and a solid oak platform base beneath.

The quality of carving throughout is particularly strong, with a rich depth and warmth to the oak and a wonderfully architectural silhouette. Pieces of this scale and decorative quality are increasingly difficult to source and work beautifully in country houses, period interiors, boutique hotels or dramatic entrance halls.

A superb and highly decorative antique hall stand with strong Green Man, Gothic Revival and Renaissance Revival influences.
