A beautifully atmospheric signed oil painting by British artist Julia Heseltine (1933–2023), titled “Port in a Storm” (labelled to the reverse). Heseltine was the daughter of celebrated artist Anna Zinkeisen, and trained at both the Byam Shaw School and the Royal Academy Schools. She is known for her dreamlike, evocative coastal scenes and softly abstracted architectural forms.

This work depicts a dramatic storm over a harbour: rolling waves, drifting spray, moody sky formations and shadowed buildings emerging through the mist. Heseltine’s distinctive blending and tonal handling give the scene a quiet intensity and a strong sense of atmosphere.

Signed Heseltine lower right.
Framed under glass with a clean contemporary mount.

Measurements:
        •       Framed: H39 × W38.5 cm

Condition:
Good overall condition. No losses or structural issues to the painting. Frame shows light handling marks. Glazed, so reflections in the photographs are from the glass.

A refined, highly atmospheric work by a listed British artist, ideal for collectors of 20th-century British art and for interiors needing a poetic, moody focal point.
