Hans Erni (1909–2015) was a renowned Swiss graphic designer, painter, illustrator, engraver, and sculptor. His artistic journey included a notable commission from the Lucerne Museum of Fine Arts to organize an exhibition on Pablo Picasso, which strengthened Picasso’s relationship with Switzerland. Erni explored abstract art from 1936 onward, and during World War II, his experience with large murals led to his role as a camouflage painter in the Swiss army.

Throughout his career, Erni’s work was exhibited internationally, including in Latin America and at the Documenta exhibition in Kassel. His dedication to the arts earned him the United States Sports Academy award of Sport Artist of the Year in 1989, and in 1979, a significant collection of his works was displayed at the Swiss Museum of Transport, where he created a 30-meter-long mural.
