A charming hand-painted Desvres faience tea caddy featuring relief-moulded figures of a lady and gentleman in 18th-century dress, delicately detailed in tones of ochre, blue, green, and white. The sides are decorated with floral vine motifs, and the removable lid echoes the same colourful hand-painted decoration.
Marked “AR” in blue to the base, with a painted cross inside the lid, both typical marks of the Desvres potteries of northern France, celebrated for their lively reinterpretations of earlier Rouen and Delft designs.
