A classic early 20th century Scottish stoneware flagon by Govancroft Pottery, Glasgow, stamped to the shoulder and marked “1” for one gallon capacity.
This is a beautifully proportioned example with a warm honey-glazed top section and a traditional buff stoneware body. The form is both practical and decorative, with a strong handle and well-shaped pouring lip. These pieces were originally used for liquids such as ale or vinegar and are now highly sought after for rustic interiors.
The glaze has a lovely depth and variation, with natural speckling typical of the period.
