A beautiful early-C20th French watercolour, delicately painted and inscribed by E. Desjardins and dated 6 Janvier 1903. The scene depicts a snow-covered courtyard with small birds in the foreground and soft architectural forms dissolving into the winter light. The muted palette and fine brushwork give the piece a distinctly Belle-Époque charm.
A handwritten dedication in French to “Yvonne” appears beneath the image, a touching personal inscription typical of Desjardins’ presentation pieces.
The artwork has been professionally framed to a high conservation standard by Leverton Framers, using a soft green mount and bead-edged frame that complement the painting beautifully. The presentation is excellent, with only minor age-related foxing consistent with a work of this period. Fully ready to hang.
