A very attractive near pair of late 19th-century French bedside cabinets crafted in walnut and topped with beautifully veined brecciated marble slabs.
Each cabinet features a single drawer above a cupboard door framed by elegant moulded panels. The sides are decorated with chevron-pattern walnut veneers, and the cabinets stand on slender cabriole legs with a shaped apron, giving them a graceful Louis XV inspired profile.
The interiors retain their original marble linings, a feature commonly found on French bedside cabinets of the period.
These charming pieces work perfectly as bedside tables but would also make elegant occasional tables in a sitting room or hallway. The pair are a near match, with minor variations typical of furniture of this age.
