A striking late 20th-century Egyptian Revival tray table comprising a large hand-engraved copper tray resting on a beautifully crafted folding Indian rosewood stand with decorative bone inlay.
The generously proportioned circular copper tray is engraved with a series of scenes inspired by Ancient Egypt, including pharaohs, chariots, temples, lotus motifs, hieroglyphic-style decoration and a sphinx, all enclosed within an engraved border. The warm patina of the copper enhances its rich decorative appeal.
The folding stand is crafted from solid sheesham (Indian rosewood) and features elegant shaped stretchers, bone inlaid diamond details to the legs and an ingenious folding mechanism, allowing the table to be stored flat when not in use.
An eye-catching and highly practical piece, equally suited as a coffee table, occasional table or decorative accent in both traditional and contemporary interiors.
The tray lifts away from the stand for serving, while the base folds for easy storage.
Condition:
Very good vintage condition with an attractive aged patina to the copper tray, together with light surface wear, scratches and minor verdigris commensurate with age and use. The stand is sturdy, folds correctly and displays only minor signs of use.
