A charming early C20th footstool retaining its original leathercloth upholstery, dating from the turn of the century. The dark-stained wooden frame is hand-made, with simple block-and-nail construction typical of small workshop or cottage furniture of the period. The seat still carries its original brown Rexine-style covering, which has developed a wonderfully aged, naturally crackled patina. The circular upholstery tacks are all original and enhance its rustic, authentic character.
 
A lovely decorative accent piece, ideal beside a fireplace, in a cottage interior, or used as a small footstool or low perch.
