Early 20th Century Persian Sarouk Rug with Central Medallion
A fine early 20th-century hand-knotted Persian Sarouk rug, woven in central-west Iran. The rug features a classic central medallion set within a richly detailed floral field on a deep madder red ground, framed by a dark indigo border with stylised palmettes.
Sarouk rugs are celebrated for their durability, dense wool pile and timeless colour palette, and this example displays all the hallmarks of quality workmanship and confident drawing associated with the region.
The rug has aged beautifully, developing a gentle softness to the pile while retaining excellent clarity of design and colour.
