An unusual early 20th-century decorative picture frame, recently converted into a wall mirror with a new mirror plate.
The shaped wooden frame is clad in dark patinated metal and decorated with raised geometric zigzag bands, applied studs and an embossed outer border. Its gently undulating silhouette and richly aged surface give it a distinctive, almost Arts and Crafts character.
The mirror can be hung in either portrait or landscape orientation and would make an atmospheric addition to a hallway, bedroom or bathroom.
Condition:
The antique frame is in good, timeworn condition, with rubbing, discolouration, surface marks and areas of wear and loss to the original finish. There are also slight irregularities and lifting to areas of the metal cladding, all consistent with its age and handmade character. The newly fitted mirror plate is in excellent condition. Later backing board and hanging fittings.
