A striking late Victorian Chippendale Revival wall mirror beautifully crafted in richly coloured mahogany and dating to circa 1890.
The mirror is surmounted by an exceptionally decorative pierced crest centred with a finely carved eagle with outstretched wings, framed by elegant scrolling fretwork and foliate detailing. The frame retains a wonderful deep reddish mahogany tone with beautifully shaped corners and flowing pierced ornament throughout.
Particularly attractive is the contrasting shell inlay to the lower apron, adding an additional decorative flourish typical of high-quality late Victorian revival furniture inspired by 18th century English design.
The mirror retains bevelled edge glass which displays gentle age and character, complementing the warmth and richness of the mahogany frame beautifully.
An elegant and highly decorative piece, ideal for a hallway, drawing room, bedroom or cloakroom interior.
