A characterful carved oak table lamp base in the Arts & Crafts taste, featuring bold stylised foliate carving to the body and raised on a generous circular plinth base.
This example is attributed to Sir Charles Clee (CSI, CIE), a British civil servant who, according to accompanying family history, produced carved wooden pieces throughout his life following early training in carving.
The carving is confident and well-executed, with good depth and symmetry, and the oak has a rich, warm tone with attractive grain throughout.
Rewired and PAT tested, ready for use.
Retains its original red baize underside.
