A wonderfully characterful late 19th / early 20th century oak craftsman’s travelling tool chest, beautifully constructed with dovetailed joints and retaining a rich, time-worn patina.
The fitted interior comprises six smaller drawers, two long drawers and a generous lower compartment, each with attractive ebonised pulls with inset brass centres. The chest retains its original worn leather carrying handle and brass corner protectors.
Most likely originally made for a skilled craftsman, engineer, jeweller or precision toolmaker, it would now make a fabulous tabletop collector’s cabinet, perfect for storing watches, jewellery, artist’s materials or other treasured objects.
Condition:
The chest is in good antique condition with the expected knocks, marks and wear from a working life. The original protective front door/panel is no longer present. The leather handle is worn but wonderfully evocative of its age and use.
