A genuine antique cast iron hanging trade weight, clearly cast with the numeral “4”, traditionally indicating a 4lb measure. Likely dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, the piece retains its original forged iron shackle and bolt fixing.
Such weights were used with steelyard and hanging scales in shops and markets. Today, it makes a striking decorative object with strong industrial character.
