A wonderfully characterful late 19th / early 20th-century Anglo-Japanese cabinet, dating to around 1890–1910.
Constructed predominantly in pine with a deep ebonised finish, the cabinet features a panelled lockable cupboard to the upper section, an open central compartment and two small drawers below with decorative brass drop handles.
The original-style key is present and the lock works correctly.
The central recess retains a charming Japanese-style landscape image depicting figures beside water amongst mountainous scenery. The cabinet has an attractive timeworn surface, with rubbing and areas of the underlying timber showing through the dark finish.
Two holes to the back suggest it may originally have been intended for wall mounting, although it also works very well freestanding.

Condition: 
Good antique condition overall, with wear consistent with age and use. The dark ebonised finish shows rubbing, scratches, small knocks and areas of surface loss, particularly to the edges and corners, revealing the timber beneath. The Japanese-style paper panel has age-related wear, fading and some losses to the edges. The drawers run, the cupboard door opens and closes correctly, and the key is present with the lock in working order. Structurally sound and retaining an attractive, characterful patina.
