A striking early 20th-century Anglo-Indian floor candlestick, carved from solid hardwood with an unusual open triple barley-twist stem.
The boldly turned upper section is fitted with a brass candle tray, while the lower stem is accented with a ribbed brass collar above a substantial circular turned base. The rich warm colour and aged surface give the piece considerable decorative character.
A wonderfully sculptural piece, equally effective used traditionally as a candlestick or simply as a decorative object.

Condition:
In attractive country-house condition with considerable age-related wear, surface marks and patination. There are old splits, losses and deterioration to the timber around the lower section of the open twist, clearly visible in the photographs, together with wear and tarnishing to the brass. I would have Kevin consolidate that area before selling it, because it looks as though one of the twisted uprights has weakened where it enters the lower turned section.
