John Carlos Remes made his name in the early 1960s importing Chinese and other Oriental porcelain, eventually founding his company Carlos Remes  a decade or so later. He gained major
notoriety in the lighting world by importing Ginger Jars, Temple Jars and Urns and turning them into quality and sought after table lamps that his name is now associated with.
