A superb large early C20th continental butcher’s block with a beautifully worn, deeply dished chopping surface and classic end-grain construction. The thick beech block is formed from tightly laminated butcher’s slabs secured with large side dowels, giving it the sculptural, time-worn character that only decades of use can create.
The top shows exceptional patina, with the desirable concave “well” formed naturally through years of hand work. A later industrial steel base supports the weight of the block, creating a striking blend of utilitarian craft and industrial style.
A fantastic decorative statement piece and an increasingly hard-to-find example of authentic continental butcher’s furniture.
