  • A Pair of Louis XV-Style C19th fauteuils chairs, c. 1850 each with an arched padded back, set above scroll carved arms and with serpentine stuff over seats. The pair are covered with a floral tapestry needlepoint; the back panels depict figures engaged in pastoral pursuits, while each seat shows domestic animals set in bucolic landscapes. We feel the tapestry could be earlier in date than the chairs.

NOTE: These chairs form part of a suite of which there are six fauteuils in total. All are the same in style and size, although each pair has slightly different tapestry scene upholstery. Please contact us if you are interested in the whole set. Also with the suite comes a three seater canape in similar material and the same period and a fire guard (listed seperately).

CONDITION: Whilst being of solid construction some gilding has worn (as seen) commensurate with age. If a client wished for the chairs to be reguilded we can have this arranged and provide a quote. The original tapestry on all backs is in good condition but the current seats and arms show wear, again our upholsterer can quote to have these done in a material of your choice.
