This beautiful and highly decorative Italian marble tazza, dating to around 1860, is of impressive size with a diameter of 50 cm. The piece features a finely detailed central depiction of a woman, possibly a deity or allegorical figure, accompanied by a horse. The outer rim is adorned with similar figures, likely representing various concepts and emotions. It rests elegantly on its own socle.
Being 160 years old, the tazza has undergone minor repairs, including a small restoration to the edge and a barely noticeable chip on the underside. Additionally, the top section has been previously used as a large wall plaque and includes a custom fitting for display.
Originally purchased from Antonio Frilli - renowned bronze and marble specialists in Florence, Italy - the tazza was later shipped from San Francisco to England in 1972.
