A wonderfully decorative and characterful pair of large sculptural table lamps, each modelled as a standing duck with its head elegantly lowered.
Dimensions: W: 30cm (11.8")H: 73cm (28.7")D: 18cm (7.1")
The ducks are finely cast in patinated metal, probably brass , with particularly pleasing attention to the overlapping plumage, webbed feet and gently curved necks. The surfaces have developed an attractive combination of deep bronze, brown and verdigris tones, giving the pair considerable depth and character.
Each duck is mounted upon a substantial shaped metal plinth, which in turn rests upon a heavy marble base, providing both visual weight and stability. Rising discreetly behind each bird is the lamp stem, terminating in a simple spherical finial.
The lamps are complemented by their warm parchment/hide-effect shades, each decorated with a small stylised central motif. When illuminated, the shades produce a particularly atmospheric amber light and work beautifully with the aged surfaces of the metal.
An unusual and highly decorative pair, combining sculpture and lighting, and particularly well suited to a country-house interior, library, drawing room or positioned at either end of a substantial console or sideboard.
The Shades are Width 41 cm and Depth 26 cm
