This charming sideboard has a lifting lid that allows access to green baize lined compartments for cutlery etc... and a sliding door to the front that allows access to cupboards below for other dining room necessities.

This piece of furniture was originally retailed by Wm. Whiteley the first department store in the UK and held a royal warrant for many years.

It was eventually taken over by Mr. Selfridge who was their major Competitor.

It is probably Edwardian in construction and is mahogany with feather banding decoration.

A really lovely piece of iconic design from this era.
