A c. 1850 Louis XV-Style three seater canapé with carved and giltwood decoration resting on cambered legs, covered with a handmade needlepoint tapestry, depicting a country scene. We think the fabric could be earlier than the settee.
NOTE: This canapé forms part of a suite comprised of six fauteils chairs (listed as pairs) and a fire guard (listed) all of the same period and made in the same style and fabric.
CONDITION: Whilst being of solid construction some gilding has worn (as seen) commensurate with age , if a client wished them reguilded we can have this arranged and give a quote. The original Tapestry on the seat back is in good condition but the seat and arms show wear, again our upholsterer can quote to have these done in a material of your choice.
Provenance: The Property of a Country House, England.
