A large C19th French Eight-Day Striking clock by S. Kinsburger with a central spelter figure. The piece is signed and raised on an onyx base with gilt mounts, together with two matching candelabra entitled 'The Return of the Grape Harvest' c.1880.

 

Fully working and restored by Mark Fussell of justatick.co.uk. Very small piece of onyx missing on one Candelabra (please see picture).

 

Sylvain Kinsburger was a French sculptor who executed works in marble and bronze, and was also known as a medal engraver. He debuted at the Salon in 1878, with a number of bronzes and eventually became a member of the Société des Artistes Français. He won numerous awards several times over the years, receiving bronze medals at the Expositions Universelles of 1889 and 1900.
