A C19th ash and elm splat-back Windsor rocking chair. Windsor chairs are traditionally comprised of hand-turned spindles socketed into a solid saddle-shaped wooden seat. The Windsor chair has been produced in numerous local variations and is extremely popular in both Great Britain and the United States. This particular variant has been popular throughout the West Country of the UK since mid-C18th and would make a comfortable fireside chair today. Stamped HG.
