A handsome 19th century oak mule chest of generous proportions, combining excellent storage with classic country-house character. The chest features a lift-up hinged lid opening to a spacious interior compartment, retaining its charming original small internal drawers, traditionally used for storing smaller household items.
The front is arranged with two short drawers above three long drawers, each fitted with brass swan-neck handles and escutcheons.
The chest stands on a moulded plinth base and displays a beautifully warm oak tone developed through years of use.
Originally used for storing linens and household textiles, mule chests are wonderfully practical pieces today and work equally well in a hallway, bedroom, boot room, or at the foot of a bed.
A solid and characterful antique offering both generous storage and timeless appeal.
