Regency Style | Circa 1840–1860
A handsome early 19th Century flame mahogany sofa table of elegant Regency design, constructed in beautifully figured, book-matched mahogany veneer with crossbanded borders.
The top displays exceptional flame figuring with rich tonal depth and symmetry, laid in mirror panels to create striking visual movement.
The drop leaves operate on traditional rule joints and open to form a generous and highly usable surface.
Raised on finely reeded sabre legs terminating in original brass caps and castors, united by a shaped central stretcher. The frieze houses two working drawers with opposing dummy drawers to the reverse, retaining hand-cut dovetailed construction, a pleasing indicator of its 19th century craftsmanship.
This is a versatile and well-proportioned example, equally suited as a writing table, centre table, hall table or behind a sofa
