A charming 19th-century Channel Islands brass bachin bowl, of traditional hand-worked form and displaying the attractive irregularities associated with these utilitarian pieces.
The shallow circular bowl has a broad flattened rim decorated with a repeating punched crescent motif, giving an otherwise simple form a particularly decorative quality. The hand-worked construction can be seen in the subtle irregularities to the body and rim.
The brass has developed a wonderfully characterful surface through age and use, with areas of deeper natural patination and oxidation, particularly to the exterior and underside.
Originally made as a practical household vessel, bachin bowls now make particularly attractive decorative pieces — ideal displayed on a table or console, or used as a generous decorative bowl.

Condition: Good antique condition with surface marks, tarnishing, oxidation and irregularities consistent with age and traditional manufacture. The darker exterior appears to be naturally developed patination rather than paint. Please refer to photographs.
