A striking vintage reverse-painted glass panel featuring a beautifully rendered parrot perched on a stump. The artist has used expressive, layered brushwork in shades of turquoise, soft yellow and cream, all set against a dramatic glossy black ground. The result is a bold, luminous image with wonderful depth — a true statement piece.
Reverse glass painting is a time-honoured decorative technique in which the artwork is applied to the back of the glass, creating a jewel-like finish when viewed from the front. This example has a distinctly mid–late 20th century feel and would sit comfortably in eclectic, maximalist, Palm Beach Regency or contemporary interiors in need of colour and personality.
The panel is circular in form and currently mounted with metal clips for wall hanging. It would also look exceptional framed in a thin black or gilt float frame.
